Plus Dave Podcast 2nd Birthday Party

Happy birthday to the Plus Dave Podcast - as we turn 2 years old, we celebrate in this special episode by throwing all semblance of structure out the window - waving goodbye to anything remotely approaching intelligent, professional football debate and conducting ourselves with all the maturity you would expect of your typical 2nd birthday party.

Rather than discussing movement in the transfer window, our players' performances in the international break or our upcoming ties with Sheffield United and Arsenal, we instead wade through a pile of questions from listeners, friends and even Chat GPT, ranging from the thought-provoking to the utterly ridiculous, often both at the same time and everything in between.

Thanks again to all of you who have kept us inspired and going for 2 years. We hope you enjoy our party and forgive us for what is quite possibly our least professional outing to date.

Episode 82 - Thunderbuddies for Life

Five goals away from home against a rough bunch of Northern hard-arses led by the second coming of Pep? No problem - just another day in the office for Ange's superstars. Dave has his work cut out this week trying to keep a lid on our expanding optimism as the inevitable yet fanciful 'title challenge' chat rears its head.

We look through a five star performance headlined by a hattrick from captain Sonny and a goal a piece from our two vice captains. Loads to be happy about this week, plenty of players of whom to sing praises and an all-round joyous hour and a bit for your enjoyment.

We look (very briefly) back on our cup exit in an attempt to keep the good mood going and look ahead to Sheffield United at home in 2 weeks, wondering just how many goals we will put away in that one - seven? Eight? Anything is possible when you're loving Big Ange instead.

There's even a brief throwback as we get a (short) Challenge Elio making a return - and a quick preview to next week's episode which will mark our 2nd birthday as a team of Spurs fans and a Leeds fan called Dave.

Episode 81 - We’ve Got Our Tottenham Back

Spurs are good! Really really good. Dave takes refuge from a team of irritatingly high-spirited Spurs fans this week, fresh off the back of a promising 2-0 away win over a tricky Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. 

With Dags returning as host after a Man Utd-hating retreat in Leeds, Elio and Socs join him in an immediate post-match review of a really encouraging performance taking Spurs (temporarily at least) top of the league!

We go through the match, gleefully analysing all the wonderful moments and impressive performers and wonder how long Spurs can keep this up, where our ceiling is and whether we should even allow ourselves to dream!

There's the usual preview of the upcoming fixtures - this time being Fulham in the cup and Burnley in the league and perhaps an unprecedented amount of joy and optimism in our two years recording the show.

Tottenham are back and we can't get enough!

Episode 80 - Getting Rid of that Conte Stink

With Dags away on a Plus Dave pilgrimage to learn the origin story of Dave, Elio is given far too much leeway in his hosting duties. We also bring some fresh blood just like Big Ange this time from the Man Utd fanbase to be ridiculed. Do Spurs actually feel like Spurs again? Is it possible, will the faith return? 

Episode 79 - We Go Again

The season is back! A fully stocked Plus Dave team console themselves (except Dave who couldn't care less) over the departure of Harry Kane by looking back on our season's opener - an encouraging, albeit unpolished, display against a Brentford side many expected to cause us big problems. We take an in-depth look at all the key performers in a new-look side taking on its first competitive challenge as an Ange-inspired unit.

We also look ahead to the next challenge, Postecoglou's home debut against Man United in what will surely be a measure of how well the team is coming together.

There's lots of discussion around how the team might start to shape up as the season progresses, where we look good, where we might need tweaking and who is already starting to impress.

It's good to be back, Spurs fans - legend might come and go but us fans, we're never going anywhere - we hope you enjoy!

Episode 78 - To Support is to Believe, To Believe is to Support

Football is almost back! We're just days away from the start of the season, recording in the midst of a Harry Kane transfer storm - mere hours after it was announced Spurs had accepted a bid from Bayern, before rumours crept in that maybe Kane would stay? By the time you read/listen to this, who knows what may have happened!

We talk new signings, pre-season games against Shakhtar and Barcelona, Oliver Skipp's brace, Bissouma's class, how much we may or may not hate Chelsea and what pre-season has taught us about how we could line up when our season gets underway on Sunday and we finally see some competitive Angeball.

We of course preview the season opener away at Brentford and we give your general predictions and hot takes ahead of the season in a segment guaranteed to make us all look very silly by next year.

It's time to get excited!

Episode 77 - Sit Down Elio, I’m Not Finished

We're back with more pre-season action! No special guests this week (aside from the always-special regular contingent returning once again). Thanks to Spurs we are never short on topics to discuss, chief among them of course being the ongoing and escalating Harry Kane saga and the wider topic surrounding the best way to handle it.

Elio and Socs get into it, discussing their slightly opposing outlooks on the end of Kane's time at Spurs as we consider the various permutations of selling now vs selling next year, selling to a rival or selling abroad.

We also take our first proper look back on the opening 2 games of pre-season against West Ham and Lion City Sailors and pick out our highlights and players that have made the biggest impression with the opening day of the season looming.

All this supported by Dave doing his level best to pretend he has watched any Spurs pre-season whatsoever, let alone that he cares enough to discuss it.

The Plus Dave returns for a third season as regulars Dags, Elio, Socs and Dave are joined this week by an extra special guest - Tifo Football's own Jon Mackenzie! Jon becomes only the second Leeds fan to ever grace the show and joins to kindly help us break down an exciting Summer window for Spurs ahead of Big Ange's debut campaign as boss.

Strap in for a feature length episode this week as we take a deep dive into Ange Postecoglou's system, how the squad profile needs to shift to best serve it, how that process is going so far and how Spurs might shape up for the new season.
