Episode 14 - Be All The Lucas Moura You Can Be

Last week there was no game to discuss; this week there were two!

Tune in for an extended episode this week taking a look back at a couple of very pleasing wins and clean sheets. Dave has his work cut out trying to contain our excitement as we close in on a return to the top 4 while looking ahead to a trip to Brighton next week.

Not for the first time this season we find ourselves singing the praises of young Oliver Skipp but the real star of the week was of course the man who may have just scored our goal of the season - Lucas Moura.

Challenge Elio proves a particularly challenging one this week with a dirty trick question thrown in for good measure. We hope you all enjoy all 1 and a half hours of the show!

Episode 13 - Snow Problem

Spurs match cancelled due to bad weather? Come rain or shine, the Plus Dave team have got your back (from the warm comfort of our remote recording studios).

Join Dags, Elio and Dave as a streamlined crew discusses the finer points of Burnley's grounds-keeping prowess and take a look forward to a tough Brentford fixture next weekend.

The team briefly fleets over yet another embarrassment on the global stage following a shock injury time defeat at the hands of some Slovenian plumbers.

Elio and Dave once again find themselves head-to-head in a tightly-fought Challenge Elio, containing snippets of Elio at his rain-man best and not one, but TWO rounds of everybody's favourite - the 'Who Am I' Game.

We hope this week's show goes some way to making up for your missing Spurs fix and of course hope you'll join us again next week to talk about an actual PL game!

Episode 12 - A Little Bit Cundy

This week we drag a despondent Dave kicking and screaming (well, somberly drinking wine) into the Plus Dave studio as we take a look back at the big one - El Dávico - Spurs 2-1 Leeds and talk through how Antonio Conte's first home league win played out and where the result leaves both teams going forward.

The team disagrees somewhat on the level of fluke involved in each of the Tottenham goals and excuses aplenty are made relating to depleted lineups and fortuitous rebounds.

We also discuss Conte, true to form, being an absolute madman on the sidelines, take a look forward to three upcoming Spurs matches that are arguably there for the taking - starting with a trip to Burnley next weekend - and Challenge Elio sees Dave introduce a new style of question.

Episode 11 - Elio Vs Dave

This week in lieu of our usual look back on a Spurs game we instead look ahead to our crucial clash with Dave's beloved Leeds United next week and take the opportunity to have a slightly closer look at Leeds and what they have become under Bielsa as well as taking a a brief stroll down memory lane as we discuss a handful of memorable players who have worn both shirts over the years. 

With some impressive performances to note, we also have a quick round up of all our players' international efforts this week from the World Cup qualifiers (only including those played up to the Sunday evening, sorry Harry - just the one hat-trick to marvel at this week).

Last but not least, strap yourselves in for a blockbuster, feature-length special edition of Challenge Elio which (to mark the upcoming Spurs v Leeds contest) sees Elio pitted against Dave in a nail-biting head-to-head football trivia marathon. Both contestants have the choice of a home (Spurs or Leeds respectively), neutral or away question for an increasing number of points but watch out, if you're wrong the points can be snatched back! You won't want to miss this one...

Episode 10 - Welcome to the Circus

The Plus Dave reaches double figures on episodes as we already find ourselves having a new Tottenham regime to discuss. Two games into the stewardship of new boss, Antonio Conte we take a look at his first rather contrasting games in charge and see what we can take away from what we've seen so far.

We look at the insanity that was the Vitesse match in midweek and the 0-0 with Everton and try to predict what the shape of our team will be for upcoming matches and who might be on the way in or out come January.

We briefly discuss our player(s) of the season so far and our biggest disappointment and, as always, we round things off with another game of Challenge Elio which culminates this week in a dramatic smash and grab victory right at the death!

 

 

Episode 9 - Words Crashing Through the Doors of Your Mind

Spurs have a new manager! Join us at a very exciting crossroads in our club's history in an episode recorded immediately after the sacking of the ill-fated Nuno Espirito Santo as he becomes a footnote in Spurs history and makes way for... our saviour? Antonio Conte has become Tottenham manager at the second time of asking in an appointment that has to be seen as something of a coup for Spurs with Conte having been touted as the man for many of the world's biggest and richest clubs.

Following yet another lacklustre performance against Manchester United we discuss whether Spurs are actually the real winners of that contest amidst the fall-out from that game and take a look at how Spurs could line up under the Italian, which players will prosper, which may find themselves in unfamiliar roles and which may be shown the door. We also discuss possible January transfers and look ahead to matches in the league, the Europa Conference League and the Carabao Cup.

Challenge Elio comes with a small twist this week as well. We hope you enjoy... Ciao amici!

Episode 8 - Two Best Strike Partnerships, You‘ll Never Sing That

This week the team is brought crashing down to Earth by an away defeat to West Ham. Join us as we try to draw positives from a result that arguably could have gone either way and discuss how we can follow Liverpool's lead next week against Manchester United with the distinct absence of a Mohamed Salah in our squad.

We take a look at the current snapshot of the season so far and our league position, weighing up (dare we say it) our top 4 credentials!

Elio once again channels his inner Tottenham Rain Man and an old Plus Dave Podcast favourite makes a surprise appearance in a particularly challenging 'Challenge Elio' - a closely-fought affair between Elio and Team Joe and Dave.

We hope you enjoy this episode at least half as much as Dave enjoyed watching the Man Utd match this weekend!

Episode 7 - Time Plus Fitness Equals Improvement

Join a streamlined cast this week as Dags, Dave and Elio talk about Spurs' second successive league win against a newly-acquired Newcastle United side and a performance that probably paints a more promising picture than the scoreline suggests. Was this a product of Nuno's plan finally coming together, players syncing up and gathering fitness or will the same old problems resurface when we face stronger teams in the weeks to come?

We take a look at our next opponents, an impressive and industrious West Ham side that will be desperate to beat us and discuss how we approach that challenge and of course how we can overcome it.

Finally it's Elio vs Dave in a head-to-head 'Challenge Elio' to round of this week's slightly shorter episode. We're all delighted to finally be talking some positives about Spurs (yes, even Dave) so long may it continue! As always, we hope you enjoy and welcome any thoughts you may have.

Episode 6 - The ENIC Episode: Sell Your Soul or Do a Leeds?

With no Spurs matches this week, the team instead tackles an ever-present topic among Spurs fans and weighs up the highs and lows, pros and cons and successes and failures of ENIC, Daniel Levy and the board. We examine some of the main criticisms made of our owners and take an objective look at their merits while trying to assess how our board has run the club and where things stand today.

It's perhaps only fitting that our next opponents, Newcastle, have just had all their prayers answers and finally broken free of the shackles of Mike Ashley, but at what cost? We take a look at the new richest club in the world, what that means for them and the moral conundrum it brings with it.

Dave takes a painful trip down memory lane and tells us first hand what it's like to see a club over-commit on its financial outlay and Elio launches a savage, unprovoked attack on a seemingly random Newcastle United midfielder.

Episode 5 - When Life Gives You Sissokos, Make Ginolade

Spurs have won a match! Join the Plus Dave team in what has become unfamiliar territory in recent weeks as our own revitalised lineup dissects a very pleasing performance against Aston Villa and tries to come to terms with Spurs actually playing well and deserving the 3 points.

We pick out our top performers and discuss how we can take the lessons from this win and apply them for the season to come.

With the international break on the horizon, this week the team also discusses the nations that have had the most significant impact on Spurs as a club with some nostalgic mentions for a handful of club legends and cult heroes along the way.
